The Cementaid Group, a privately owned British business started in 1952, has offices and manufacturing plants around the world making speciality admixtures for the concrete industry. Best known of these in Britain is Everdure Caltite, a British Board of Agrément certified admixture for inclusion in structural concrete to provide waterproofing in place of membranes, even in grade 4 basements for archival storage. The product has been used in many thousands of structures since its launch in 1958, in basements, tunnels, roofs and tanks, not only to provide waterproofing but also corrosion protection of the concrete and reinforcement in some of the most aggressive environments where concrete has been used. Some notable structures in Britain where Everdure Caltite has been used include: Stadia – over 10,000m³ in the basement of the new No. 1 tennis court complex at Wimbledon (see adjacent photograph), Chelsea Football Club and the McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield. Offices – IBM, Glaxo Wellcome, Glaxo SmithKline, Tesco head office and Northern Ireland regional headquarters, Britannic Assurance, Eagle Star, Prudential, Lloyds Bank, Co-operative Wholesale Society, DSS new building at Longbenton and Washington. Hospitals – Ashford in Middlesex, Hairmyres at East Kilbride, Royal Sussex in Brighton, Redbridge in Essex, Royal Marsden, Great Ormond Street, Crowborough and Cheltenham. Supermarkets – 28 Tesco Stores, Waitrose, Sainsbury, Marks & Spencer and ASDA.
