Admixtures making good progress on CE Marking
October 28, 2004
Following the introduction of the harmonised European Standard for Admixtures EN 934, admixture producers are now allowed to CE mark their products, provided they are able to meet the new and stringent requirements. These require the producer to undertake initial type testing of all his products and also to organise an external audit of his factory production control process by an external Notified Body.
The UK Cement Admixtures Association (CAA) has confirmed that this process is going well for its members, several of whom are already in a position to start CE marking their products.
Surveillance visits by the Notified Body to remaining members are all scheduled before the end of March 2003. However, the CAA has agreed that in order to provide a co-ordinated transition from the old BS 5075 system of acceptance, to the new EN 934 harmonised standard, its members will start CE marking of their products with effect from 1st May 2003.
