History and Aims of Association
The Cement Admixtures Association is a trade association founded
in the United Kingdom in 1963 to promote the effective use of admixtures
in concrete, mortar and grout. The association believes that admixtures
are a key component of durable and sustainable concrete for modern
construction and that their wider use should be encouraged within
the building and civil engineering industries.
The Association’s full members include the major companies
involved in the development, manufacture and supply of admixtures
in the United Kingdom. Several of these companies also have major
overseas involvement in admixtures.
Associate members include suppliers of raw materials to the full
members, suppliers of dispensing equipment and test houses. Under
the rules of the Association they may not supply admixtures directly
to the construction industry.
Full membership is open to companies who manufacture or supply
admixtures for use with hydraulic cement and who have traded in
this sector for at least two years. Full members must operate a
third party certified quality management system complying with ISO
9001 or 9002.
The CAA is active in work on British and European standards and
in the preparation of guidance on the use of admixtures and general
concrete technology. Liaison is maintained with the main user groups
such as QPA, ACIFC and BPCF as well as with BCA and the Concrete
Society.
CAA is a member of the European Federation of Concrete Admixtures
Association (EFCA).
The CAA is pleased to provide help to users through training courses
and by giving talks and lectures on admixtures and admixture related
subjects.
