The ‘European Federation of Concrete Admixture Associations’
EFCA was formed in 1984. It currently represents 11 countries with a membership that is thought to provide in excess of 80% of admixture requirements within Europe and represents almost all the major admixture manufacturers.
The Federation initially focused its activities on European Standardisation work for admixtures, leading to the publication of the EN 934 series of standards. Work continues to extend the range of admixtures covered and to introduce harmonised standards and CE marking of admixtures.
During the last 10 years EFCA has placed increasing emphasis on promoting the use of admixtures as a normal and essential ingredient of high quality, durable concrete. This has involved greater contact with organisations like ERMCO, BIBM, CEMBUREAU and involvement with specific projects and concrete related issues. It has also begun to look seriously at the environmental and health and safety issues involved in admixture use.
